All that is needed for making the template is
- a photo,
- an etching
- or a line drawing.
The more detailed the basic motif, the more sophisticated and precise the end layout will be.

It is also possible to have text printed on the card. There are three techniques for this:
- printing,
- engraving
- and laser.
